I have several copies of the "New Weibull Handbook" from as far back as 1994. All have been a tremendous help with each new edition covering something new and important for me to incorporate into my analysis and testing. The fifth edition is no exception to this trend. It is the best practical guide to reliability life-data analysis with straightforward explanations free of confusing statistical jargon making it engineering friendly. Reliability life-data analysis is a changing subject with new applications and best-practices being developed. The "New Weibull Handbook" 5th edition introduces new material that is not covered anywhere else. I own numerous reliability statistics books and have found the "New Weibull Handbook" to be the best for everyday application. I have seen comments on previous editions that the book is not as useful without the software, this is simply not true. I did not have access to the WinSMITH software package until recently. The basic techniques were simple enough for me to implement in spreadsheets and generic graphing packages which I used for many years prior to our group adopting the WinSMITH Weibull package.

Once again Bob Abernethy has continued contributing to the industry's knowledge of probably the most powerful reliability tool we have-- Weibull analysis. This edition has added techniques and case studies that keep it current and make it the premier introduction and handbook on the subject.

An invaluable collection of theory and practice. When the text book answer doesn't fit.The New Weibull Handbook is an invaluable addition to the Reliability Toolbox. Combines theory with practical experience helps you find solutions when pure theory breaks down. New methods improve on earlier editions C. T. Sica

Dr Abernethy's work here is one of those books that I always have with me and continually refer to.
Written in an easy to understand style, the book lays bare a lot of the mystery and science underlying the Weibull techniques and applications in a way that makes them immediately adaptable.
I have always been a big fan of thought leaders who can teach, and Dr Bob is one of those very rare individuals.
If you are out to make a career in reliability engineering then I recommend this book to you as one of the staples in your physical asset management library.
