Account and privacy basics

Creating an account, what others can see, what stays private, and how to download or delete your data.

Account & privacy · Updated Nov 2, 2026

You can browse deals on PriceTrim without an account. To share deals, vote, comment and post in the forums, you need a free account. Here is what to know about your account and your privacy. For the full details, read the privacy policy.

Creating an account

  1. Go to create an account.
  2. Enter the name you want other members to see, your email address and a password you do not use anywhere else.
  3. Confirm your email using the link we send you. The link expires after a while, so if it stops working, sign in and ask for a new one.

What is public

  • The name on your account, and your profile photo if you add one.
  • Anything you add to your public profile, such as a short bio.
  • The deals, comments and forum posts you write, and when you posted them.
  • Your reputation and any badges.

What stays private

  • Your email address and password.
  • Private messages between you and another member.
  • Deals and searches you save, unless you choose to share them.
  • Your notification settings and sign-in history.

The PriceTrim team can see account details needed to run the site and investigate abuse, such as your email address and sign-in records.

Shopping and affiliate links

When you follow a link to a store, you leave PriceTrim. The store's own privacy policy then applies to what you do there. If the link is an affiliate link, the store or affiliate network may record that you arrived from PriceTrim so a purchase can be credited. We do not receive your payment details from stores.

Posting safely

  • Crop screenshots so they do not show your name, address, email, order number or the last digits of a card.
  • Do not post account logins or anything that would let someone access your accounts.

Managing your account

  • Edit your name, photo and bio in your profile.
  • Choose which emails you receive in preferences. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
  • Change your password in password settings, and sign out of other devices in sessions.
  • Download a copy of your data from data export.
  • Delete your account from delete account. Your private data is removed. Public deals and comments may remain so discussions still make sense, but they are no longer connected to your name.

We will never ask for your password by email, text or phone. If you get a message like that, it is not from us.
